Greenfoot Energy Solutions is an Efficiency Nova Scotia Preferred Partner+, or EPP+. You’ll see the new logo across our Nova Scotia service pages and rebate guides.
We want you to understand the requirements behind the badge. When you’re choosing a contractor for a heat pump installation or insulation upgrade, a logo should give you useful information about the business you’re hiring.
What does EPP+ membership involve?
Efficiency Nova Scotia’s Preferred Partner network connects homeowners with local contractors who work on energy efficiency projects. EPP+ is an optional membership tier with additional requirements.
The standard network requires proof of business registration, relevant trade certifications, general liability insurance and Workers’ Compensation Board compliance. Members also complete onboarding training and an annual safety and compliance attestation.
EPP+ applicants need at least two years in business and six months of active network membership. They must demonstrate participation in Efficiency Nova Scotia programs and provide reference letters from a customer and an industry contact, along with a letter of good standing from their financial institution.
The additional criteria include annual program and cybersecurity refresher training, risk checks and increased on-site performance quality audits where applicable. Efficiency Nova Scotia publishes the full EPP+ requirements on its website.
How do you check a contractor’s credentials?
A home upgrade starts with decisions about equipment, installation costs and the people doing the work. For a heat pump project, you also need a recommendation based on your home’s heating needs.
EPP+ gives you a documented set of business requirements to consider alongside the quote. Look for the EPP+ badge in Efficiency Nova Scotia’s contractor directory, then ask about the work proposed for your home.
For example, a central heat pump quote should identify the equipment and explain the installation scope. Ask whether the price includes electrical work, changes to existing ductwork and the removal of old equipment. Those details help you compare quotes on the same basis.
We encourage you to ask about warranties and follow-up service before signing. Keep a copy of the quote and confirm who to contact after installation.
How does Greenfoot help with your project?
Our Nova Scotia team helps homeowners review heating, cooling and insulation options. We start by understanding your home, your current equipment and the problems you want to address.
Cold rooms, uneven temperatures and high heating costs call for a closer look at the house. The right recommendation depends on factors such as insulation, air leakage, existing ductwork and room layout. We explain the proposed work so you know what the quote covers.
You’ll find local service information on our Nova Scotia page. For current incentives, start with our Nova Scotia heat pump rebate guide.
What should you check before applying for rebates?
EPP+ membership and rebate eligibility are separate. The designation does not guarantee approval or a specific rebate amount. Each program sets its own rules for households, equipment and installation.
Review the application steps before ordering equipment or booking installation. Some programs require an assessment or approval before work begins. Ask which documents you need to keep and who submits each part of the application.
Greenfoot walks you through the process and helps you understand the next steps. You submit your application to the program administrator, which determines eligibility and approval.

Questions about EPP+ status
Does EPP+ status guarantee a rebate?
No. Each program sets its own household, equipment and installation requirements. The program administrator determines eligibility and approval.
Where do you check a contractor’s EPP+ status?
Check the company’s listing in Efficiency Nova Scotia’s contractor directory for the EPP+ badge.
Is EPP+ membership a government warranty on the work?
No. Contractors remain independent businesses. Review the proposed work, contract, equipment warranty and installation warranty before hiring.
